Job description

Internship Position

The internship position will be in the Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller (Clerk), Office of Inspector General (OIG). Specifically, the position is within the Public Integrity Unit's Guardianship section.

The purpose of the OIG's internship program is to provide an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate college students to gain insight of OIG operations and experience the Clerk's role in providing financial oversight to guardianship cases.

All college students must be in good academic standing to be eligible for the position. All applicants are asked to provide a description of their educational background and work history when completing an application, as well as other relevant information like a resume.

Internships provide cooperative educational and occupational experiences that benefit the individual, the community, and the Clerk's office. This is an opportunity to learn, work and network.

The internship position is dedicated to supporting the Clerk's OIG, Guardianship Section. The purpose of the Guardianship Section is to perform audits, to include enhanced guardianship audits, as defined per Section 744.102(2), Florida Statutes (F.S.). Pursuant to F.S. 744.368, the guardianship audit is completed on the initial and annual guardianship reports to provide oversight of the management of financial resources for individuals (e.g., elderly persons, minor children, and incapacitated adults) within Collier County, as defined under Florida's guardianship law.

The internship will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Guardianship Section's role in auditing guardianship assets by supporting the audit function and learning about statutory requirements along with reporting to the Court. In addition, through the course of the internship there may be opportunities to attend court hearings and acquire knowledge in other OIG functional areas.

Compensation : Interns will not receive monetary compensation. All placements are contingent on a satisfactory background check.
