Qualifications :

1. High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor or Associates Degree preferred.

2. Valid Michigan Driver's License

4. Documented training or participation in reading.

5. Previous work experience with high school aged students.

6. Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication

7. Documented work experience and / or training in program areas. Must document some experience in 2 of 5 of the listed areas.

8. Working knowledge and skills in at least 2 of the following areas preferred :

a. Automotive

b. Construction

c. Drafting

d. Machining

Reports to : Career Center Director or designee

Job Goals : Help identify special populations students succeed in the various CTE programs to assist in achieving student success and preparation for certification and testing.

Performance Responsibilities :

1. Serve all assigned students in the CTE programs as identified by the Career Center Director

2. Serve assigned students in the areas of manufacturing for the trades and assist with reading and technical skills necessary to succeed in the CTE programs, as well as administer assistance in the area math.

3. Provide assistance to the instructors by working with Special Populations students who need extra help with classroom tasks.

4. Assist in the development of supplementary materials.

5. Monitor progress and attendance of all assigned students.

6. Meet all timelines for submitting student reports.

7. Provide assistance to the Career Center Director upon request.

8. Submit contact sheets and calendar of classroom schedules monthly to the Director

9. Preparation of individual student files

10. Participation in advisory committee meetings and CTE functions including awards ceremony

11. Input quarterly and semester grades in database to provide to the CTE Secretary or designee in timely manner (Fall and Spring)

12. Participate in MOSPA conference in the Spring (optional)

13. CTEIS Follow up reports of graduates (phone calls and data entry)

14. Other duties as assigned

15. Prepare, administer, evaluate and assist students with math intervention.

16. Bus loop supervision, morning and after school.

Terms of Employment :

Regular student attendance school year

Hours per posting (7 hours daily)

Salary per negotiated agreement

Evaluation : Performed by the Career Center Director

Also, please complete the Manufacturing CTE Specialist Work Experience Form (link above) . Documented work experience and / or training in manufacturing (2000 hours of experience within the last five years in two of the four areas : automotive, construction, drafting, and machining).

Sault Area High School & Career Center CTE Specialist - Manufacturing working hours 8 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 00 p.m. along with Bus Loop Supervision 7 : 45 a.m. to 8 : 00 a.m. and 3 : 00 p.m. to 3 : 15 p.m.

All elementary students also have access to desktop computers either in their classroom and / or in a computer lab. Sault Area High School and Middle School each have computer labs in addition to classroom computer units. The Career Center uses computers in many of their career and technical programs including the business services cluster, which has three individualized computer labs for student access, and drafting and design with CAD-CAM software identical to that used in industry.Students interested in career-technical education can choose from 17 in-house programs or additional off-campus specializations available in business and industry throughout the community. In addition, several cooperative articulation agreements with Lake Superior State University and Bay Mills Community College are presently in effect.

Sault Ste. Marie is a Class B high school participating in the Straits Area Conference. Presently there are 30 teams Grades 7-12 participating in the interscholastic athletic program. Baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, hockey, soccer, softball, track, volleyball, and wrestling are offered, as well as an array of other extra-curricular activities.
