Job Description
This role is field‑based and requires the candidate to live within a reasonable distance from San Diego. The position covers San Diego, Temecula, Murrieta, Palm Springs, and surrounding areas. The specialist will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage assigned territory, build strong customer relationships, and place the patient at the center of all efforts while operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
- Handle objections and concerns to consistently gain clear calls to action and close every sales call.
- Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to achieve set metrics, optimize coverage, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Build understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, competitors, and product expertise; share intelligence with in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager for alignment.
- Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and maintains disease‑state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business‑related field preferred, or 5+ years of relevant industry experience with 3+ years in the pharmaceutical / health / science industry; high school diploma / GED required.In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders.Strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.Proven track record of sales success and solid presentation skills.Influences others, viewed as credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example.Documented success in leadership / support role of increased responsibility at district, region, or organizational levels.Preferred : Proven success in sales performance within therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical experience such as physician / account‑based selling, training, managed healthcare or marketing.English language proficiency in speaking and writing.Must satisfy all applicable Health Care Industry Representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements and maintain good standing.Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.Use personal auto or company vehicle for territory travel.Key Stakeholders
External : Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other stakeholders as needed.Internal : In‑field team members, Sales Management (DSM), Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.Benefits and Compensation
