The company has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and long-term relationships across multiple construction sectors. With five unions and a dedicated accounting and project management team, this client is positioned for continued growth and process modernization.
This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company’s financial and administrative functions while partnering closely with operations and field leadership. This hands-on executive will drive strategic financial planning, streamline reporting and systems, and implement operational efficiencies across accounting, HR, and project management.
This is not a “corporate red tape” role — it’s a roll-up-your-sleeves leadership position designed for a decisive, people-oriented finance executive who can balance structure with flexibility and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Lead all aspects of accounting, finance, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Develop and maintain robust cash flow projections and forecasting models.
Oversee financial reporting and provide timely insights to ownership and executive leadership.
Evaluate and streamline billing, payables, receivables, and invoice processing systems.
Operational Oversight
Work closely with the Controller and project teams to connect financial results with field operations.
Implement changes across divisions and departments, holding teams accountable for results.
Review and optimize processes for field hiring, safety program documentation, and project reporting.
Collaborate with project management to improve communication between field and accounting teams.
Technology & Process Improvement
Leverage ERP systems (Sage, CoPilot 365) to enhance reporting and visibility across the business.
Integrate technology and AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and forecasting.
Create specific job reporting for concrete and masonry divisions and improve bid vs. actual analysis.
Team Leadership & Development
Work side-by-side with the Controller to restructure accounting responsibilities for scalability.
Grow, mentor, and develop the finance team to support the company’s expanding operations.
Oversee key office staff hires and ensure alignment between financial and administrative functions.
Strategic Initiatives
Review potential acquisitions or buyouts.
Drive continuous improvement in accounting trends, systems, and workflows.
Support the CEO and COO in long-term strategic planning and financial modeling.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader in construction, contracting, or a related field.
Track record of building and managing high-performing accounting teams (10–15+ staff).
Expertise with Sage and CoPilot 365 ERP systems.
Strong understanding of job costing, union payroll, and project-based financial reporting.
Ability to lead change, simplify processes, and foster collaboration across departments.
Hands-on, action-oriented leadership style with excellent communication and accountability.
