Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. Featuring a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle San Luis Obispo offers much to be had.\n\nJob Summary : \n\nDelivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.\n\nJob Requirements : \n\nEducation and Work Experience : \n\nBachelor 's Degree in Nursing (BSN) : Preferred\nAcute care facility experience : Preferred\nLicenses / Certifications : \n\nRegistered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice : Required\nCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification : Required\nEssential Functions : \n\nCollects relevant data pertinent to the patient?s health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient?s situation.\nCollaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients / family members and team members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.\nParticipates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.\nDelegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.\n\nHospital Total Bed Count : 162\nUnit Bed Count : 27\nStaffing on Unit : \nBased on the ratio of patient care and the number of patients. It is a blended unit. The step-down level patients have a 3 : 1RN ratio, and the telemetry level patients have a 4 : 1 RN ratio. Average census is 25% Step down level patients and 75% telemetry level patients. \n\tCNAs have an approximately 10 : 1 CNA Ratio\n\tUnit Secretary 10 am-2200\n\t24 / 7 Monitor Tech\nCall Required?No call\nFloating to other units Required? Float to med surg and it depends on staffing and census. Happens often. \nWeekend Coverage Required? Yes, staff must work 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period. Weekends on Days are Saturday and Sunday, and weekend obligations on nights are Friday and Saturday PM shift. \nMedication System : Pyxis, Omnicell, Other : Omnicell\nEMR System : Cerner \nIV Teams : no\nLift Teams : Yes 6am-midnight daily. \nPharmacy Hours : M-F 6am-2100, Weekends 8am-1800,Off-site pharmacy contract for after-hours. \nPhlebotomy available on unit? 24 : 7 phlebotomists. \nTransport Team : No\nProvider Coverage : \nIntensivist : 6 am-1800pm in-house. 18-06 on call at Sierra Vista and French Hospital (a hospital 1.5 miles away). The contract requires the intensivist to be in-house at either facility during those hours. \nHospitalist : 24 / 7 Hospitalist coverage\nScrubs : No color requirement. \n\tThe step-down / telemetry unit is a blended unit that has a combination of 3 : 1 and 4 : 1 patient. The 3 : 1 patient population is intermediate care and includes IV drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, Cardene, insulin, and the capability to care for patients on high levels of oxygen. The sdu / tele patients have a high focus on neuro trauma patients, complex post-operative patients, and stroke patients. It is a fast pace unit and the busiest admission, transfer, discharge patient unit in the hospital. \n\n\n
