Job Description

The Senior Claims Adjuster is responsible for managing complex indemnity and catastrophic claims within the Risk Management Division. This role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and laws.

Responsibilities :

• Investigate, evaluate, and determine compensability of time loss and catastrophic claims.
• Calculate average monthly wage, set reserves, and authorize indemnity and medical benefits.
• Update claims systems, negotiate settlements, and notify agency loss prevention coordinators.
• Monitor diagnosis changes to ensure ICD codes are current for Medicare purposes.
• Coordinate with nurse case managers, attorneys, and subrogation specialists.
• Identify and coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs).
• Communicate with agency personnel and injured employees; conduct claim management training.
• Manage litigation in coordination with the Attorney Generals Office or outside counsel.
• Oversee contracted vendors (nurse case managers, investigators, IME services, etc.).
