Position Type : This is a full-time position. The exact schedule will be determined by the needs of the shelter. Lantern staff may be asked to alter their work schedule depending on the operational needs of the site.
Objective : Lantern Community Services is seeking a Cleaner and Maintenance Residential Aide for our Men’s Mental Health Homeless Shelter, Laurel Hall. Our facilities provide structured, therapeutic, safe, and substance-free environments for homeless individuals. The Shelter Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness of the shelter.

Work Environment : This job operates in a homeless shelter and works with a population who may experience mental illness, substance use, disability, HIV / AIDS, and other chronic illnesses.
Physical Demands : This role requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Duties may involve operating hand and power tools, using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and mops, and working in various postures including kneeling or crouching. Tasks are performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
Employees must be able to navigate stairs, work on ladders or elevated surfaces when needed, and respond to urgent maintenance or cleaning issues quickly. Visual and auditory acuity are essential for safety and quality control. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required for certain tasks. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Other Duties : May be required to respond to emergency facility issues outside of scheduled hours.
