Overview

KXAS-TV (NBC 5) and KXTX-TV (Telemundo 39), the NBCUniversal duopoly serving the Dallas–Fort Worth market, are seeking a passionate and versatile News Reporter to join our newsroom team. This position is an exciting opportunity to report for two powerhouse stations with a commitment to delivering trusted, impactful journalism to one of the largest and most diverse audiences in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Create content that informs, engages, and connects with viewers on linear television, streaming platforms, and social media.
  • Report live from the field, produce digital exclusives, and leverage social media to engage with viewers in real time.
  • Collaborate with photographers and producers to deliver high-quality reporting.
  • Adapt reporting styles for broadcast, digital, and mobile-first consumption.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum 4 years television reporting
  • Proven live reporting skills and strong storytelling
  • Experience contributing to a website

  • Must be willing to work in Fort Worth, TX, just south of DFW airport.
  • Must submit a video of own work to be considered
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be 18 years or greater
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be able to work long hours and a variety of shifts, when necessary
  • Must accept NBCUniversal’s Alternative Dispute Resolution program

    • Desired

  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • General assignment reporting skills preferred
  • Ability to enterprise stories
  • Experience with digital editing and photography a plus
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Must be able to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, particularly breaking news
  • Must be able to handle intense deadline pressure
  • Experience of working simultaneous on a web product
  • Strong knowledge of social networking in regards to content gathering and distribution
  • Work in a team environment
