Staff Tax Accountant

The Staff Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's tax compliance and reporting activities. This role ensures accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, assists with tax provision calculations, supports audits, and contributes to tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge of tax principles and strong attention to detail.

The Details : 100% remote WFH

In this role, you will be responsible for :

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local income / franchise tax returns and supporting workpapers.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Support sales / use tax filings and other indirect tax compliance as needed.
  • Assist with gathering documentation and responding to inquiries during internal and external tax audits.
  • Maintain organized records of tax filings, payments, and correspondence.
  • Conduct basic tax research to support compliance or planning efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes and improve efficiency through automation or documentation.
  • Partner with Finance, Payroll, Legal, and other departments to ensure accurate reporting and tax treatment of business activities.
  • Stay informed of changes in tax laws and help assess impacts to the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Foundational understanding of corporate tax principles and accounting for income taxes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • 13 years of relevant tax or public accounting experience.

    CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.

    Pay Range : This position offers an annual salary range of $70,000 - $80,000. Exact salary will depend on the budget, candidate's experience, education and geographic location.
