About The Position
Job Title : Procedural Assistant

Experience : Minimum 3 years in Interventional Special Procedures, either in interventional radiology, cardiac, or vascular hybrid setting
License : Required minimum license(s) and certification(s) include ARRT-CV, ARRT-R, ARRT-VI, or RCIS.
Certifications : BLS; ACLS preferred
Must-Have : Competency in all aspects of interventional and vascular procedures.
Description :
Functions under the direction of the Chief Technologist and Vascular Institute Manager.
Assists in providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures.
Possesses knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely.
Responsible for performing technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
Sets up equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures.
Able to perform procedures in interventional radiology, vascular hybrid, and neuro-interventional settings.
Completes VI competencies and demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills.
Collaborates with radiologists, vascular surgeons, and cardiologists.
Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile technique.
Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedures and enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedures.
Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs and work on call as scheduled.
Maintains proper communication and introduces self to patients and guardians using appropriate scripting.
Transports patients as needed while providing privacy and comfort.
Assists with maintenance of departmental records and compliance with standards and regulations.
Completes necessary paperwork and answers departmental calls using correct scripting.
Maintains stock levels and ensures supplies are not outdated.
Keeps current license and BLS certification and assists in training other medical imaging staff as appropriate.
Works as a team with other staff to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Verifies patient identity using two identifiers.
Checks front of patient charts for similar name stickers and ensures verified orders and consent.
Uses and understands pre-procedural verification and compliance with site / side marking when indicated.
Responsible for patient education for families or support systems and provides post-procedural care instructions as needed.
Complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
