Responsibilities Work in the Emergency Department (ED) of an acute care hospital 19 ED beds, 3 fast track beds, and 2 triage rooms with a separate entrance Provides care for standard emergency and acute patients; STEMI and stroke receiving center Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4 Tele monitoring required, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips Uses Cerner for electronic medical records charting 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required and first to float status Rotation for holidays with core staff Floating may be required to other Sacramento area facilities Floor-specific orientation provided with 1-2 days on the unit Responsible for providing emergency nursing care including management of STEMI and stroke patients Scrub color is navy; under shirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets are optional but must be navy No trauma, vents, or teaching responsibilities in this ED Charge nurse generally does not take an assignment but may provide break relief Support staff includes two techs / EMTs per shift and 24 / 7 social services, pharmacy, RT, and hospitalist or intensivist coverage Patient sitters are assigned based on individual risk level Psychiatric holds occur in designated front area with security presence Bedside shift report is standard practice No block scheduling available, but schedules are accessible online for shift swaps and picking up extra shifts First time travelers are eligible to apply Requirements Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS required Must provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years Successful completion of the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam before acceptance; pass / fail with two attempts allowed Ability to read and interpret EKG strips required Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend as scheduled Copy of driver’s license required for consideration Candidates cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year unless employed PRN through an outside agency Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627265.
