Duties and Job Responsibilities :
- Serves as receptionist - greets patients and visitors
- Registers patients according to approved policies and procedures
- Performs insurance verification procedures
- Communicates with patients, employers, nurse case managers and workers compensation insurance companies regarding issues as needed
- Collects patient copayments and self-pay amounts
- Balances receipts at the end of the day
- Reviews patient chart to assure information is up-to-date and checks for the need for new patient forms
- Obtains and enters accurate demographic and billing information as required
- Prepares and forwards miscellaneous paperwork, i.e.-physical education and RTW papers, etc.
- Assumes responsibility for maximizing patient satisfaction
- Stresses positive guest relations
- Route incoming faxes to appropriate provider / staff
- Scan patient information into electronic chart
- Collect papers from all teams / departments throughout the day that need scanned into patient chart
- Address medical records requests via mail, fax or phone by following procedures in a HIPAA compliant manner
- Answer and direct calls to appropriate personnel / team
- Open, sort, date and distribute hospital and postal mail daily
- Check online & newspaper obituaries and mark deceased accounts and send message to teams as necessary
- Act as liaison between MMC and OAM residents / physicians for hospital consultations
- Under the supervision of the Operations Manager - record, maintain and manage hold and phone tree messages
- Other duties as assigned
