Job Summary
The Chief Medical Officer of Erlanger East will provide physician and staff leadership for Erlanger East, working to assure that the facility provides an appropriate quality of care to its patients. The Chief Medical Officer shares in the administrative functions that directly impact medical services and collaborates with the management team in overall planning. The East Chief Medical Officer duties will include those listed below as well as other duties as reasonably requested by Erlanger to properly assist the operations of Erlanger East. Attends at least 75% of quarterly medical staff meetings; attends any meeting as directed by medical director or his / her designee.
Education
- M.D. (required)
- Valid license to practice medicine in TN (required)
- Bachelor degree in business, healthcare administration, or a comparable discipline (required)
- Masters degree in business, healthcare administration, or a comparable discipline (preferred)
Experience
10+ years experience in clinical medicine (required)2+ years experience in a hospital administration or senior clinical role (preferred)Licensing & Certification
Current MD / DO licensure in the State of TN by the State Board of Medical Examiners (required)Current DEA and DPS certification (required)Current CPR certification required (ACLS preferred)Valid TN or GA drivers license (required)Current immunization records (required)Current PPD (required)Must meet and maintain current EHS credentialing and privileging requirements (required)Department Position Summary
Attend monthly advisory meetings requiring representation from Erlanger EastConsistently promote EHS Quality, Safety and Service initiativesAttend Leadership Steering Committee meetings (e.g., East Leadership Meeting, EHS Medical Executive Committee, etc.)Work with departments to develop and review order sets, policies and procedures to ensure standardized and consistent care deliveryReview all non?ER patient transfers from Erlanger East to a higher level of careWork with departmental physician leaders / administrators to assure Best Practice processes are in placeServe as a member of Administrative Leadership at East; attend scheduled meetings and rounds, providing input regarding strategic and functional direction for the facility, including expansion of patient services (e.g., pediatrics, interventional cardiology, critical care, etc.)Work with departments to optimize compliance with DNV and other applicable regulatory agenciesEvaluate procedures and equipment for appropriateness, need, and utilization in conjunction with the Administration, the Credentials Committee and other formal EHS entities (e.g., Value Analysis Committee, Technology Acquisition Committee, etc.)Provide medical direction and serve as a liaison between administrative leadership and the East physicians and advanced practice providers as needed for quality, safety, financial and service opportunitiesThis includes direct counseling and willingness to address quality, safety and citizenship issues, in partnership with Erlanger System Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff leadership, when indicatedEmployment Details
