About the role
TekPro Engineering is recruiting a direct-hire Automation Controls Electrician for a leading food manufacturer in Bartlett, IL . You’ll own the electrical health of high-speed production and packaging lines on 2nd shift (2 : 00 PM – 10 : 30 PM) , ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
A day in the life
You arrive before changeover, review open work orders in the CMMS, and scan the line status. A sensor fault on a wrapper triggers your first call; you isolate energy using LOTO, trace the issue through the control circuit, and bring the line back up. Later, you fine-tune a VFD parameter to stabilize motor speed, perform scheduled predictive checks on servo axes, and update schematics after a minor panel rewire. Before shift end, you log precise notes in the CMMS and partner with production to plan a quick kaizen on a recurring jam.
Core responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize electrical systems on production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose PLC, drives (VFD), motors, relays, sensors, and related control-system issues.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance to cut downtime and boost reliability.
- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation with accuracy.
- Perform work to stringent safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and close work orders within the CMMS.
