Position Summary
We’re seeking a Seasonal Tax Preparer for the upcoming 2026 tax season. The ideal candidate is an Enrolled Agent or a preparer with 1–2 years of professional experience preparing individual and small business returns. This is a seasonal role running from January through May , with flexible hours and the opportunity for recurring seasonal work in future years.
You’ll work directly with clients to prepare accurate, timely returns while identifying deductions and credits, maintaining compliance, and supporting the firm’s commitment to quality and client service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual (Form 1040) and related schedules
Prepare small business returns (Schedule C, partnerships, and S-Corps) as applicable
Review source documents (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, 1098s, brokerage statements, etc.) for completeness
Communicate with clients to clarify tax details and gather missing information
Identify deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities while maintaining compliance
Accurately input and review data using tax preparation software (Drake, or similar)
Support e-filing, extensions, and IRS / state correspondence as needed
Maintain confidentiality and follow firm procedures and professional ethics
Qualifications
Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred, or 1–2 years of professional tax preparation experience
Strong working knowledge of individual tax law and common schedules (A, B, C, D, E)
Proficiency in tax software systems (Drake, or similar) and general computer literacy
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines during busy season
Willingness to work extended hours (evenings / Saturdays) during peak filing weeks
Desired Skills
Familiarity with small-business returns and multi-state filings
Strong client communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to research tax issues and resolve discrepancies independently
Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards
Team-oriented with a positive, dependable attitude
Bilingual (Spanish / English) a plus
Active or aspiring Enrolled Agent (EA)
Schedule & Compensation
Season : January – April 15, 2026
Hours : 20–40 per week, flexible scheduling
Pay : $20–$30 / hour, based on experience and credentials
Hybrid options may be available after initial training period
