Job description

Position Information

The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare

System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified,

board-eligible full-time permanent hospital employed General

Otolaryngologist to join our Otolaryngology department. The

Otolaryngologist Physician is accountable to the Chief of Surgery

Service. The candidate is expected to provide specialty care to

full scope of ear, nose, throat, upper pharynx, larynx, oral

cavity, and other head and neck structures surgical subspecialty

continuum of care in collaboration and communication with

interdisciplinary patient care team.

The

provider will also be assessing and treating diseases of the Ear,

Nose and Throat and surgical conditions, performing screening

examinations and completing H&P's and progress notes,

performing basic diagnostic procedures, prescribing both inpatient

and outpatient medications and writing appropriate orders on

inpatient and / or outpatient assigned to the facility.

Additional duties include :

Attending required staff meetings,

communicating up and down the chain of command, and helping prepare

heads-up and issue briefs related to adverse patient outcomes.

Clinical Management including indirect

patient care : open encounter and open consult maintenance, CPRS

documentation requirements, monitoring of clinic management.

Maintains involvement in matters concerning clinic productivity,

relevant performance measures, Quality and Patient Safety

oversight, as well as process improvements (system redesigns).

Patient Care : Practitioners are expected to

provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and

effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness,

treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.

Medical / Clinical Knowledge : Practitioners are

expected to demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving

biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and the application of

their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.

Clinical Judgment : To ensure practice-based

learning and improvement, practitioners are expected to be able to

use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and

improve patient care.

Interpersonal and

Communication Skills : Practitioners are expected to demonstrate

interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to

establish and maintain professional relationships with patients,

families, and other members of the health care team.

Professionalism : Practitioners are expected

to demonstrate behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous

professional development, ethical practice, and understanding and

sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their

patients, their profession.

Systems-Based

Practice : Practitioners are expected to demonstrate both an

understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is

provided, and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve

optimizing health care.

If the incumbent is

involved in research, they will show an ability to identify and

define significant Research and Development problems, to plan and

execute a precise research program, and to generate effective

reports and results worthy of publication.

The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma

City, OK and is the “Flagship” for the Oklahoma VA Health Care

System (OCVAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b

(medium complexity) facility. The Dentistry department serves

patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for

more than 70,000 veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in

Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Join a department

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday 08 : 00-4 : 30

U.S. Citizens receive preference – non-U.S. Citizens may be

considered.

Current, full, and unrestricted

license to practice Otolaryngology in the U.S.

Board Certified in Otolaryngology is

preferred, as well as board certification in subspecialty area of

rhinology / endoscopic sinus surgery, head and neck surgery, sleep

medicine, etc. but Board Eligibility may also be considered.

The salary range is

$123,000-400,000, depending on the years of experience.

Potential for an annual performance

bonus of up to $15,000.

Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3)

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan, with up to 5%

Licensure : 1 full and unrestricted

license from any US State or territory

CME :

Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with

board certification)

Contract : No Physician Employment Contract

and no significant restrictions on moonlighting
