Chesterfield County Public Schools offers a $1,500 bonus for this position. The role involves general cleaning duties of a school or administrative building, which may require frequent lifting up to 45 pounds, moving up to 75 pounds, and the operation of commercial cleaning equipment. Tasks performed are specific with recurring assignments and are performed under general supervision of Building Operations Supervisor. May be required to work after hours, weekends, and holidays. Will be required to work Monday Friday.
Responsibilities include :
Equipment operated includes vacuum cleaner, wet vacuum, kaivac machines, carpet cleaner / extractor, mops and buffer.
Daily contact with staff, administration, and students within a school environment. Receives written and verbal requests from Custodial Manager, Zone Supervisor, school staff, and administration for work to be done. Some decision making in terms of work priorities. Supervisor's approval required for most decisions.
Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Frequently lifts up to 45 pounds and / or moves up to 75 pounds and possesses the strength to operate commercial cleaning equipment. Work environment includes exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hot or cold conditions, and risk of electrical shock. Some work is performed outside. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
Qualifications include working knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and standards, ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment, ability to use standard English to read, communicate, understand, and follow written instructions; write simple sentences; and comprehend labeling on products. Ability to work safely and efficiently with machinery. Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
Requirements include the ability to speak effectively and communicate in the English language. Education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skill, and abilities. Applicants considered for employment must successfully complete the following background investigations / tests : Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal History Investigation, State Police Criminal History Investigation, Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation, Tuberculosis Screening, and Skills Assessment.
