American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a high-acuity birth center, requiring a WA or compact RN license and advanced L&D skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 34-bed Labor & Delivery unit with 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED rooms, and 3 ORsPatient population includes high-acuity OB patients, including hypertension, preterm labor, C-sections, and multiple birthsPostpartum unit with 18 beds for recovery of both mother and babyTypical patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 2 for non-active labor, and 1 : 2-3 for antepartumUp to 300 deliveries per month with robust antepartum and C-section volumeShifts are 12 hours, nights, with every other weekend rotationFloating within L&D, antepartum, and postpartum may be required based on experienceRequired use of the Epic EMR system, with experience mandatorySpecialized equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Centricity fetal monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, and Panda WarmersNo mandatory on-call requirements; holiday coverage expectedResponsibilities include caring for high-risk OB patients, managing labor and delivery processes, and supporting recovery of mothers and newbornsTeam includes CNAs, scrub techs, receptionists, float charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and 24 / 7 laborist coverageUnit has residents, fellows, and additional physicians / midwives presentOrientation includes hospital and unit-based training with preceptor supportScheduled breaks and resource support provided depending on staffingScrubs are provided by the facility and must not be worn outside of the premisesFree badge-access parking available in designated areasHoliday coverage is fair and equitable; RTO requests must be submitted prior to contract approvalFirst-time travelers may be considered upon review\n \n Requirements\n
Active WA or compact RN licenseMinimum of 2 years recent L&D RN experience required; 5+ years preferredBLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN) certifications requiredProficiency in triaging OB patients, high-risk labor management, circulating in the OR, and fetal strip interpretationExperience using Epic EMR is requiredAbility to receive and recover newborns as neededSuccessful completion of cardiac rhythm interpretation exam prior to start\n Benefits\n
