Packer Responsibilities

Packing and assembly : Working in a team to pack furniture parts into cartons and apply labels as needed.

Reading production schedules : Identifying and selecting the correct packing materials for different products.

Material handling : Moving finished goods and packing supplies to and from storage areas using equipment like pallet jacks.

Quality control : Inspecting items and packaging for damage or defects and reporting issues to a supervisor.

Organization and cleaning : Maintaining a clean and organized work area, which may include general cleanup of the production floor, vacuuming conveyors, and bailing cardboard.

Warehouse duties : Assisting with other warehouse tasks, such as loading and unloading, when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

Teamwork : This collaborative role requires good communication skills to work efficiently with other production staff.

Physical stamina : Packers must be able to stand for long periods and lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds.

Attention to detail : The job requires careful work to ensure correct products and labels are used and that the items are packaged safely to prevent damage.

Equipment operation : Familiarity with tools like tape guns, staple guns, and pallet jacks is beneficial.

Education : While a high school diploma or GED may be required, many entry-level packing positions require no formal education.

Experience : No prior experience is generally required, as the company often provides on-the-job training.
