SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Activities Assistant will assist in developing, scheduling, and directing programs daily for our dementia residents. This will include driving our residents to off-site activities in our community van. Duties also include providing support for calendar production and distribution, planning, implementing, and decorating holiday and special event activities, assisting and supervising residents with activities, observing and reporting changes in health and mental status, coordinating and maintaining supply closets, and keeping an inventory of supplies.
Requirements :
Must have 1 to 2 years of experience working with the elderly and / or Dementia / Alzheimer’s populations.Experience providing programs or services to the elderly.Must be responsible, organized, and dependable with the ability to communicate effectively with senior citizens and their families.MS Office skills required.Must be flexible, a good team player, and able to work some evenings and weekend hours.Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.Must be able to express oneself clearly, verbally, and in writing. Has a history of responsible, accident-free driving.A background in recreation therapy or art therapy is highly desirable.High school diploma or GED required.An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Students pursuing a master’s degree program in art therapy or recreational therapy are strongly urged to apply, as valuable experience is gained through this opportunity.
