Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) renal specialty position requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the Renal Progressive Care Unit of a tertiary care hospitalPatient population includes renal transplant, hemodialysis, diabetes encephalopathy, and acute renal rejectionStaff-to-patient ratio typically 1 : 5, may flex to 1 : 6, all transplant patients are 2 : 1 for 48 hoursInvolves use of PD caths, drains, thymo administration, IV insulin protocols, and cardiac monitoringEMR system is Epic, with training modules to be completed pre-startDay shift schedule (3x12 hours), including weekend and holiday shifts as neededRegular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as neededProvide specialized nursing care to patients with complex renal and cardiac needsRequired to manage diabetic, metabolic, and acute rejection cases, as well as thymo titrationMust comply with navy scrub color policyPre-start Epic training and other modules must be completed prior to orientationInfusion pump and glucometer training required prior to startUp to 7 days of requested time off allowedRNs may be assigned charge nurse duties and are expected to cover holiday shifts as neededFree parking is available onsiteDrug screening required; a positive or diluted result not cleared by MRO will require a 6 month wait before re-applyingNo travel partners acceptedFirst-time travelers are acceptedRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationBLS and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years recent PCU / renal specialty experience, with at least 1 year within the last 12 months and no employment gaps over 90 daysSkills required : renal transplant care, cardiac telemetry monitoring, emergency response, pre / post hemodialysis management, central and peripheral line care, starting IVs, IV therapy, wound careMust be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response situationsTwo recent professional references required : one from a supervisor-level or above, and another from a charge RN, both from within the past yearMust reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not acceptedBenefits
