Purpose and Scope
It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and community. Core tasks include planning, developing and teaching music courses.
Essential Job Functions
Teach music courses at varied times and locations.
Develop engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
Utilize a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines.
Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment; provide electronic communication.
Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform students of their progress.
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and community.
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Mastery of music course content.
Demonstrated leadership skills with collaboration, teamwork and facilitation.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work with diverse people.
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies and effective instructional designs.
Commitment to academic excellence and service delivery in a dynamic learning climate.
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities and technology integration.
Effective strategies to engage students in learning.
Physical Abilities
Work is sedentary with occasional walking, standing or bending. No special physical demands.
Schedule and Conditions
Equipment : PC workstation, calculator, phone, office equipment.
Work performed in climate‑controlled classroom / lab with minimal safety hazards.
Hours vary with class times; instructors must meet classes and remain available to students outside class instruction.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in music, or Master’s with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in music.
Salary
$55.44 per contact hour.
