Director of Operations (Contractor – Medical Device Manufacturing) Location : Fridley, MN (Onsite) Duration : 3–6 Months Contract Pay : $90-$160 / hr. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations (Contractor) to provide interim leadership coverage at a growing medical device contract manufacturer in the northern Twin Cities.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role overseeing multiple concurrent programs—many focused on New Product Introductions (NPIs) —while driving operational excellence and mentoring the existing team.
The right candidate will be an experienced medical device operations leader who can hit the ground running, bring structure and urgency to the team, and ensure continued success in production and customer satisfaction.
There is also an opportunity to collaborate with the returning Director of Operations upon her return.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of operations across 8–9 active projects, including multiple new product introduction programs.
Serve as the primary operations contact for customers, ensuring strong communication, responsiveness, and delivery performance.
Drive accountability for quality, delivery, and operational performance , partnering closely with Quality and Engineering teams.
Support ongoing improvements to manufacturing quality systems and processes—experience resolving or preventing quality issues is highly valued.
Lead and mentor a team of Supply Chain Coordinators (approx. 5), ensuring alignment between production schedules, materials, and customer needs.
Oversee the development of a second shift (not a primary focus but will require alignment with core operations).
Provide operational insight and support in building new production lines and scaling manufacturing for new product launches.
Foster a culture of ownership and understanding by clearly communicating the “ why ” behind decisions to operators and staff.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure operational readiness and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations leadership, preferably within medical device environments.
