Job Description :

The Student Assistant functions in the domains of Software Engineering, Information Technology Project Management, and Client Services.

Under the general direction of the Director, Management Information Systems, and with technical direction from Information Technology Specialists, the Student Assistant assists in the performance ofadministrative and technical duties in a learner capacity.

The Student Assistant provides support services to the Management Information Systems – Data Unit in the domains of Software Engineering, Information Technology Project Management, and Client Services. The focus can be adjusted based on the student’s ability and interest to provide exposure to multiple areas of Information Technology operations.

Student Assistants must reside in CA and be currently enrolled in a community college, college, or university for a job appointment.

The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on the Chancellor’s Office’s evolving telework policy. The Chancellor’s Office supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to the headquarters office in Sacramento if an urgent need arises.

Working Conditions

Ability to use standard computer, computer programs, and / or office machines for an extended period of time.

Communicate in a clear and concise manner.

Work in a climate-controlled, open office environment under artificial lighting.

Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.

Periodic public speaking / presentations are required.

Ability to effectively telework within the state of CA.

Hybrid work setting provided.
