Job Summary

The Clinical Operations Supervisor-Behavioral Health provides high-quality mental health services to abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their caregivers within the CAARE Diagnostic and Treatment Center. This role supports the Department of Pediatrics' mission by delivering culturally responsive, trauma-informed care in a multidisciplinary environment committed to staff wellness and evidence-based practice. Services are provided across outpatient clinics, pediatric clinics, juvenile hall, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to children ages 0-21 and their caregivers.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, medical providers, educators, and community partners.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support safety, emotional health, and long-term resilience.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with departmental, state, and contractual requirements.
  • Consult with medical providers, school personnel, child welfare workers, probation officers, and other stakeholders to support coordinated care.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and trainings related to trauma, child development, and best practices in pediatric behavioral health.
  • Provide services across varied settings, including outpatient clinics, medical clinics, juvenile detention facilities, and community-based locations.
  • Support the CAARE Center's mission by contributing to program development, quality improvement efforts, and research-informed clinical practice.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and / or certification if required for the position

  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Psychologist, and maintain an active license in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or the California Board of Psychology
  • Must possess a M aster's degree in P sychology, S ocial work, S ociology, or other closely related field
  • Must have at least two years of post-licensure experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Minimum of three years of experience providing mental health services to children with a history of trauma
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to mental health therapists
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience
  • Training and experience in evidence-based treatment protocols, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT )
  • Must have expertise in Sacramento County documentation policies and procedures in the Avatar system
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use DSM-5 (or subsequent versions of DSM)
  • Knowledge and understanding of individual, child, and family development, human behavior and communication, and the influence of culture and values in clinical practice
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide case management, individual, group, conjoint, family, and evidence-based treatments
  • Knowledge of suicidal behavior, the ability to assess lethality, and the ability to develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating mental health practice (e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc.)
  • Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy
  • Good writing, verbal, and planning skills to write clear and concise reports using applicable computer software
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to organize a variety of concurrent activities, set realistic goals and objectives, plan and meet deadlines without compromising quality
  • Ability to conceptualize clinical situations and demonstrate application of theory in case management and psychotherapeutic responsibilities
  • Knowledge of current treatment literature and its applicability to mental health therapy
  • Ability to use clinical supervision to enhance professional growth and examine clinical work
  • Ability to successfully manage conflict
  • Ability to apply cultural competency standards to clinical care
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Skills, knowledge, and ability to support the policies and procedures of the CAARE Center and UC Davis Health
  • Ability to testify as an expert witness

    Mental health services are offered to children and youth from birth through age 21 through a variety of contracts and grants. Care is delivered across multiple settings-including outpatient clinics, pediatric practices, juvenile hall, and community locations-allowing clinicians to work with a diverse population and develop broad clinical expertise.
