Overview
The Production Planner will create and maintain manufacturing schedules, work with sales, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to maintain a production plan. The Production Planner will do capacity planning, set lead times, and maintain all aspects of the facility schedule. The Production Planner will lead production meetings and daily schedule update meetings to effectively communicate and plan the facility.
Responsibilities
- Forecast and manage ramp-up and ramp-down planning for New Product Introductions, balancing demand, capacity, and inventory risk
- May lead a small team of planners or serve as planning representative on cross-functional teams
- Lead planning process improvement projects
- Develop strategic plans for implementing and improving ERP system use
- Schedule usage of production materials to ensure optimal production levels
- Produce reports based on findings and performance of production
- Determine manpower, equipment, and raw materials needed to cover production demand
- Create and maintain all production schedules for the facility
- Plan and slot all work orders, set capacities and lead times, and verify delivery dates
- Collaborate with all departments to maintain required information and keep everyone informed of schedule additions and changes
- Draw up master schedule to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders
- Analyze production specifications and capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
- Utilize ERP systems (experience with Visual ERP or similar) preferred
- Ensure attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Support planned introduction of Visual ERP scheduling
- Continually seek ways to improve processes and workflows to drive positive change
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Support department and company goals by achieving set targets

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are
Bachelor's degree preferred; associate degree or equivalent with 3+ years planning experience in a manufacturing environmentMaintain a positive work atmosphere and collaborate effectively with customers, clients, coworkers, and managementWillingness to utilize lean tools to identify and drive continuous improvementStrong communication skills and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and ERP system knowledgeOur Culture and Values
