MD-Financial Reporting

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Director, Reporting leads FedEx Freight’s external financial reporting function, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and full compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role oversees the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and disclosures, supports technical accounting policy development, and partners across Finance, Legal, and the business to maintain a strong control environment

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director provides strategic oversight and guidance to ensure FedEx Freight’s financial reporting processes align with regulatory expectations, support decision-making, and enable readiness as a standalone public company

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Leadership and Oversight

Lead the financial reporting function, ensuring timely , accurate , and compliant SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting

Manage the preparation and review of quarterly and annual filings, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, and other external disclosures

Develop, coach, and mentor to a high-performing reporting team, promoting collaboration and accountability

Serve as the technical accounting resource for complex transactions and policy interpretation

Governance, Policy, and Controls

Partner with the CAO and Internal Audit to ensure financial reporting processes meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and internal control requirements

Oversee documentation and compliance for all accounting standards and disclosure controls

Maintain consistent application of accounting policies across the enterprise, incorporating lessons learned from RemainCo

Strategic Collaboration

Work closely with FP&A, Treasury, and Legal to align reporting with financial strategy and corporate governance

Support audit and disclosure processes with external auditors, ensuring alignment on accounting treatments and timelines

Partner with Technology and Finance Systems to enhance reporting automation and data accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS : Education :

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required ; Master’s degree preferred

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred

Experience :

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or audit experience in a large or complex organization

At least five (5) years in a leadership role overseeing external financial reporting or technical accounting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and disclosure requirements

Proven ability to interpret and implement new accounting standards

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail

Effective communication skills, capable of translating complex accounting matters for senior leadership and non-financial stakeholders

Demonstrated experience leading teams and building strong partnerships with auditors, regulators, and internal functions

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Some travel required between Memphis and Harrison

Additional Details : This position will be domiciled at a FedEx Freight location in Memphis, TN or Harrison, AR. You will be required to work at a FedEx Freight location several times per week.
