Patrol Officer - Department of Public Safety

Reports to : Patrol Sergeant

Job Location : WASHINGTON COLLEGE - CHESTERTOWN, MD

Position Type : Regular Staff (FT)

Patrol Officers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors within Washington College campus. You are responsible for enforcing campus regulations, State and Federal laws, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and providing a visible presence to deter criminal activity.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and Monitoring

Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or patrol vehicle to monitor for suspicious activities or safety hazards.

Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents on campus.

Enforce campus policies, rules, and regulations, as well as local, state, and federal laws.

Ensure the safe flow of traffic on campus roads and parking areas.

Provide security and crowd control at campus events, athletic games, concerts, and other large gatherings.

Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors through outreach programs and community policing initiatives.

Collaborate with allied law enforcement agencies on investigations relating to college matters.

Work Schedule / Hours

Shifts are normally 10-hour rotations with 4 days on and 3 days off. Schedules include holidays, weekdays, and weekends. Patrols operate 24 hours daily. May be called upon at any time. Full-Time / 35+ hours per week / Non-Exempt.
