Position Summary

UNM Los Alamos anticipates hiring Temporary Part-Time faculty to teach online and / or face-to-face Certified Nursing Assistant courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Summer 2025 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.

UNM-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque. UNM-Los Alamos emphasizes teaching excellence and offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.

UNM-Los Alamos is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various disciplines as specified above. UNM-LA instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator. Strong preference is given to candidates who reside in New Mexico. Classes may be offered on-line or in person, depending on circumstances.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Program Coordinator overseeing this curriculum area.

Wages

Adjunct Faculty at the UNM Los Alamos campus are currently compensated at the rate of $1,135.26 per credit hour.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing

2. Meet the following NM Department of Health Requirements for instructors who train nurse aides :

a. The training of nurse aides must be performed by or under the general supervision of a registered nurse who possesses a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, at least 1 year of which must be in the provision of long-term care facility services.

b. Instructors must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides

3. Clearance through the NM Department of Health Caregivers Criminal History Screening Program (CCHSP)to include fingerprint background check and NM DOH Employee Abuse Registry (EAR)

4. American Heart Association BLS Instructor

Preferred Qualifications :

1. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

2. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.

3. Online teaching experience

4. Master's degree in Nursing

5. New Mexico residence
