Overview

Truancy & Behavioral Coordinator (Stronger Connections Grant funded position) at Education Service Center, Region 2.

Primary purpose : Provide assistance to campus personnel in interpreting and enforcing compulsory attendance laws and resolving truancy, excessive absences, and tardiness problems. Serve as district liaison for truancy to law enforcement agencies and court personnel. Organize and implement a district-wide multi-tiered system of support to ensure students' academic and behavioral needs are identified and supported so that students can reach their full potential. Work directly with students, teaching staff, administration, and outside agencies to provide necessary support and is sponsored through the Stronger Connections Grant.

Qualifications

• Education / Certification : Bachelor\'s degree in Education, Social Work, Special Education, related field. Master\'s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field as preferred.
• Special Knowledge / Skills : Ability to communicate with students, teachers, parents, administration and community members.
• Experience : Experience and training with effective academic and behavioral interventions, including school-wide, classroom, and individual student behavior intervention plans, school improvement and cultural diversity. Experience providing and coordinating staff development activities and curriculum design. Experience working with district level and school based leadership teams to support school improvement decision-making. Experience implementing intensive student support as a behavior specialist, teacher, principal or related role in schools. At least 3 years teaching experience.
