JOB DESCRIPTION
Position
Part-Time School Bus Driver for Field trips and Special Events
Reports To
Superintendent
Qualifications
- Successful completion of BCII and FBI background checks
- Successful completion of drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to meet all criteria and qualifications established by the Federal government and the State of Ohio for bus driver certification and possess the appropriate licensing and / or such alternatives as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Be of legal age (Section 3327.10 of the Revised Code)
- Physical capability of appropriately lifting and managing handicapped pupils when necessary
Job Requirements
Knowledge of state and local transportation laws and appropriate safety proceduresAbility to work with other employees in a productive and cooperative mannerMeet the medical requirements of a school bus driver through an annual physical (Rule)Complete preservice and annual inservice training (Ruleof the Administrative Code)Attend a yearly safety meeting as required by the State of OhioInstruct students on evacuation procedures and emergency drills and rules as required by the Ohio Pupil Transportation Operations and Safety RulesObserve and follow all regulations covered in the Ohio Pupil Transportation Operations and Safety RulesRemain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse throughout his / her employmentPerform in a professional manner those duties assigned which deal with students parents school employees and the communityBe responsible for the safe operation of the school bus in the transportation of studentsProperly perform and record the required daily pre-trip inspection in accordance with Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules () and be aware of the performance of assigned bus and report any deficiencies to the Superintendent or designeeComply with and perform safe driving proceduresAdminister the assertive discipline policy as set forth by the Governing BoardUse approved procedures in reporting bus accidents and complete forms on any and all accidentsBe constantly alert to the whereabouts of each and every student assigned to his / her route inside and outside of the busJob Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to walk up and down stepsRecognize and respond to emergency situations quickly and calmlyShow the characteristics of reliability dependability and initiativeKeep the bus well cleaned inside and outsideComplete of reports and provide information as required by Board procedures and policies and / or Transportation SupervisorWork safely and report any potential problems to the SuperintendentAssist transportation aide with operation of wheelchair lift as neededServe as a role model forProvide an atmosphere on the bus conducive to the educational processPerform such other duties as may be required by the Superintendent or designeeThe performance responsibilities specified are not meant to be an exhaustive list of all specific activities in which the person filling this position engages.
