Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position with adult and geriatric patients and float requirements across multiple units.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital environment on a Medical / Surgical Telemetry unit with 10 private room beds and 1 observation bed
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with chronic and acute conditions such as diabetes, renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, and post-surgical cases
  • Telemetry monitoring for up to 4 patients with stable dysrhythmias
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 19 : 00-07 : 30
  • Weekend coverage required every 2nd to 3rd weekend
  • Floating required to two other Med / Surg units as needed
  • Uses Pyxis for medication administration and SBAR for communication
  • Special equipment includes safe patient handling equipment and bladder scanner
  • Responsibilities include use of rapid response teams, management of pre / post hemodialysis, neuro surgery, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
  • Must be comfortable with isolation precautions, chest tubes, surgical drains, wound care, and wound vac procedures
  • Travelers may be floated in accordance with client floating policies and based on clinical competency
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Accepts first time travelers
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • No modules required prior to start

  • Active IL RN license in hand is required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • At least 2 years of recent Med / Surg Telemetry experience required
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Experience in phlebotomy, IV starts, PICC line management, colostomy care, feeding tube management, and blood product administration preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
