Hillside Boutique Hotel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you will assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation.   • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and portioning.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands and guest expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor food quality during preparation and cooking to ensure flavor and presentation meet resort standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create seasonal menus and specials, providing input on new dishes.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing food products and reporting any shortages.
  • Support kitchen operations by cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen atmosphere.

Requirements

Education / Formal Training :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in hospitality management preferred.
  • Experience :

  • Minimum 3-5 years of culinary experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or Sous Chef role
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
  • Strong background in kitchen operations, including prep, line execution, plating and service standards.
  • Experience with inventory control, ordering and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in menu development, recipe costing and seasonal specials.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Executive Chef and FOH teams.
  • Knowledge / Skills :

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for providing outstanding service.
  • Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office and reservation software.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
