Resolute Management, Inc. is a Third-Party Administrator hired by clients to handle complex environmental, asbestos, and / or latent type insurance claims. POSITION SUMMARY :

The Direct Claims Account Manager directly handles and / or assists in monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating activities involving complex environmental, asbestos, and latent type claims, including resolution of coverage issues and establishment of adequate reserves.

DUTIES :

  • Reviews loss notices; confirms and interprets policy coverages; establishes adequate reserves; and investigates and handles claims involving primary, excess, and umbrella coverages.
  • Communicates with policyholders / customers, witnesses, claimants, remediation experts, counsel, and others to gain claim facts. Communication is generally via phone / e-mail, but some travel may be required.
  • Works with the reinsurance department to provide notice of new accounts, updates on existing accounts and respond to specific reinsurer inquiries.
  • Responsible for assignment to and control of work of defense and coverage counsel, assignment of expert witnesses, and interfacing with peer carriers including design and execution of defense and indemnity contracts, evaluation of liability and damages, participation in settlement conferences, and proper allocation of indemnity and expenses over applicable years of coverages and to appropriate corresponding carriers.
  • Ensures proper file setup, exposure evaluation and / or reserving, general handling, and coverage interpretation in compliance with company procedure.
  • Participates in developing claim handling techniques, including defense coordination, expense control, and strategy.
  • Provides specific claims information to senior management relative to all new notices of loss and maintains specific financial and general statistical records which are used in reporting to management.
  • Ensures that information in existing claim management system is current, accurate, and complete.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively deal with interruptions.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • EDUCATION :

  • J.D. Degree strongly preferred with defense or insurance coverage experience.
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • At least 2 years of experience with general toxic torts.
  • Some experience with asbestos strongly desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and internet applications.
  • CPCU or other industry designation a plus.
