Bakery Department Manager Trainee
The trainee will work alongside the department manager to fine-tune their skills and expertise in the department to prepare them to become a successful Bakery Department Manager. Assists the Bakery Department Manager in setting the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability.

Accountable and reports to : District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Operations; Perishables; Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager. Positions that report to you : Department Employees in the absence of the Department Manager.
Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, generating a friendly atmosphere, assisting and working alongside the department manager, smiling and greeting customers, making an effort to learn customers' names, assisting customers, answering the telephone, handling and satisfying customer issues, communicating with employees, ensuring proper temperatures and storage procedures, understanding and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines, and adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines.
Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting Department Manager to ensure competitive pricing, attending meetings and seminars, filling displays, unloading trucks, performing departmental duties, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.
Supervisory responsibilities include assisting Department Manager with instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and assisting in the selection of new employees.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include the ability to solve practical problems, do arithmetic calculations, compose original correspondence, interpret written work instructions, interview job applicants, follow technical manuals, and have increased contact with people.
Education and experience : High School or equivalent experience and over six months up to one year of similar or related experience.
Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform the following physical activities : climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes and dampness, possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents, and a fast paced work environment.
Equipment used to perform the job includes telephone, fax, copier, intercom system, calculator, cash register, mixers, register, proof box, ovens, sheeter, rounder, pan washer, fryer, label machine, shrink wrap machine, C.A.R.S. system, computer, and edible image machine.
Confidentiality includes access to confidential information including pricing. Financial responsibility includes responsibility for company assets including equipment and merchandise.
Contacts include daily contact with customers, employees, suppliers / vendors, and the general public. Occasional contact with local, federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $17.00 to $21.25 depending on experience.
