About the Role
The Manager of Human Resources plays a vital role in shaping the employee experience and strengthening our organizational culture. This position oversees all aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, performance management, training, payroll, and compliance. Working closely with the Senior Director of Finance and the CEO, you'll ensure that every aspect of our human resources practice reflects our mission, values, and commitment to transparency and collaboration.
What You'll Do
Lead and execute all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, performance management, and employee relations.
Partner with the Senior Director of Finance to ensure compliance with all HR, payroll, and benefits regulations and laws.
Manage payroll processing and benefit administration with accuracy and care.
Drive culture and engagement efforts that make SFAS a great place to work and volunteer.
Coach and support managers on leadership, communication, and progressive discipline.
Oversee the employee safety program and ensure timely reporting and follow-up.
Maintain and continuously improve HR systems, records, and reporting.
Serve as a key connector between departments, fostering clear communication and accountability.
Champion onboarding and orientation efforts to ensure new hires feel welcomed, supported, and aligned with our mission.
Partner with leadership to strengthen team performance, morale, and professional development.
What You'll Bring
5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
Solid understanding of employment law, benefits administration, payroll systems, and HR best practices.
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trust, handle sensitive information with discretion, and navigate complex situations with diplomacy.
Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
