  • CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in : Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services.
  • We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways.
  • More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe.
  • Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
  • CAMBA  administers services at  10 Cornerstone Community Centers  across Brooklyn.
  • All Cornerstone programs are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings, youth leadership and social services to the neighborhood’s students, their families, and other residents.
  • Activities and services are available after school, evenings and on weekends.

Position :

  • Receptionist Reports To : Program Director Location :   Howard  (90 Watkins St, Brooklyn, NY 11212) What the Receptionist Does : Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
  • Practice Universal Precautions / Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
  • Retrieve messages from general voicemail and forward to appropriate personnel.
  • Take or deliver messages or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
  • Answer questions about organization and provide callers with address, directions, and other information.
  • Welcome onsite visitors, determine nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor visitor access and issues passes when required.
  • Update appointment calendars.
  • Receive, sort, and route mail, and maintain and route publications.
  • Maintain fax and copy machines, assist users, send faxes, and retrieve and route incoming faxes.
  • Update site bulletin board weekly.
  • Maintain the professional appearance of the receptionist’s area.
  • Maintain package log and program papers Order, receive, and maintain office supplies.
  • Create and print memos, correspondence, reports, program marketing materials, and other document when necessary.
  • Administer and track application forms.
  • Contact and schedule potential participants for assessments.
  • Assist with screening potential participants.
  • Organize and maintain filing system (i.e. - files must include waiting list, application forms, etc.).
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
  • May perform computer data entry / verification functions.
  • Tasks may be modified, expanded and / or assigned over time.
  • Requirements :

  • Sufficient education (English-speaking, -reading, -writing, & math abilities) to comprehend oral and written information and to assist callers and visitors and staff.
  • Ability to type 25 words per minute.
  • If off-site or school-based , may require :

  • Dept. of Health, Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance; doctor's note certifying good health; proof of negative results from TB test; and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance.
  • If off-site or school-based , ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.
  • Compensation :

  • $17.00 hourly  When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program.
  • The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and / or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
  • Status :
