Facility Overview

This regional health system's flagship medical center maintains a critical role in regional trauma care, operating as a Level III Adult Trauma Center . This designation ensures a high-acuity, varied case volume in musculoskeletal trauma across all age groups. This locum role is vital for maintaining comprehensive coverage as the hospital adjusts its orthopedic trauma service model following a recent integration into a larger healthcare network.

Scheduling and Assignment Details

We are seeking a dedicated Orthopedic Surgeon to provide one (1) week of continuous coverage per month , commencing in December on an ongoing basis.

• On-Site Hours (Monday-Friday) : 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM for scheduled operating time, clinic, and daily inpatient rounding.
• Call Requirement : 24 / 7 On-Call coverage is required for the entire one-week assignment period.

Procedures and Responsibilities

The Locums Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon will be responsible for providing expert, full-scope orthopedic trauma care. Key duties include initial assessment, stabilization, and definitive treatment of all orthopedic trauma patients, as well as management of general orthopedic emergencies.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must be a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and possess all necessary credentials to practice immediately in the State of Iowa. While a Trauma Fellowship is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement. Applicants must hold an Active Iowa Medical License or IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact) , BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications, and an Active DEA registration.
