Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a dual NICU Level II and Nursery night shift role requiring 3+ years of NICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position covers both NICU Level II (7 beds) and Nursery (20 beds) settings
  • Patient population includes neonates 30 weeks gestation and above, some with higher acuity, substance exposure, or low birth weight
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are approximately 1 : 2-3 in the NICU and 1 : 5 in the Nursery
  • Required to work night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday coverage
  • May float within the New Life Center as needed
  • Use of equipment includes warmers, Alaris pumps, Bubble CPAP, GE monitors, pulse oximetry, blood glucose, and TPN
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred but not required
  • Must be comfortable attending deliveries and providing neonatal resuscitation
  • Responsible for delivering neonatal and newborn care, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team for assessments and care planning
  • Must manage and prioritize care for patients including those with substance exposure or requiring stabilization prior to transfer
  • Only hospitalist is onsite overnight; must be able to work independently
  • Expected to adhere to safety and quality standards in maternal and neonatal care
  • First-time travelers accepted; travel experience not required
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • Pass / fail EKG testing is required on the first day with study guides provided

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 3 years current NICU experience required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required (or must obtain within 6 months)
  • Ventilator experience preferred but not required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Experience with higher acuity neonates preferred
  • No local candidates within a 50-mile radius eligible for consideration
