Field Service Technician (FSR4) Hackettstown, NJ | $140,000–$190,000 / year We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician (FSR4) to support and maintain field operations across the country. This is a hands-on position responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining electrical systems, industrial controls, and related equipment at client sites. You’ll play a key role on the field service team—providing technical support, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with electrical systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to quality service. Key Responsibilities Field Service Support Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power systems, electrical equipment, and industrial controls on-site. Inspect, repair, and replace components including transformers, circuit breakers, LV / MV switchgear, protective relay systems, and PLC controls. Support commissioning and system startups, ensuring all systems meet operational specifications. Conduct detailed diagnostics and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability. Customer Interaction & Support Serve as the main point of contact during service visits, offering technical solutions and maintaining positive relationships. Train customers on system operation and maintenance. Accurately document all service activities, test results, and feedback on system performance. Operational Efficiency Work with other technicians and internal teams to ensure timely, effective service delivery. Maintain accurate records of service work, time tracking, and on-site inventory. Use available remote technologies to troubleshoot and resolve issues when possible. Health & Safety Compliance Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations while on-site. Promote a strong safety culture through participation in safety audits and training. Keep certifications current and adhere to best safety practices. Continuous Improvement Stay current on emerging technologies and equipment in the electrical systems industry. Provide feedback to management on service processes, technical challenges, and potential improvements. Contribute to developing and refining standard operating procedures. Qualifications Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant certifications a plus. Experience 5–7 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls. Skilled in testing and troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA systems, circuit breakers, transformers, LV / MV switchgear, and relay systems. Experience with protective relay testing and preventive maintenance preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and field service management software. Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members. Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Other Requirements Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight trips. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Ability to read and update electrical drawings and schematics. Extra Competencies Experience with both low- and medium-voltage systems. Familiarity with PLC programming, CAD, EPMS, and SCADA systems is a plus. Strong documentation and reporting skills.
