Court Security Officer Job In Aberdeen, Mississippi
This is a Court Security Officer (CSO) position in Aberdeen, Mississippi. The CSO position can perform a variety of fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols while maintaining situational awareness and making decisions and / or taking actions consistent with established post orders, facility rules, guidelines, and protocols. Duties may include work in austere and uncomfortable conditions for prolonged periods of time, including periods of inclement weather, while performing walking, standing, searching, and surveillance or sitting duties essential to the performance of the security functions. This is a union position.
Duties and responsibilities include enforcing the district's entry and identification system, testing and reporting emergency equipment, patrolling court facilities and grounds, manning USMS authorized stationary posts, providing focused surveillance on incoming traffic, offering armed escort services, providing security services for off-site and remote judicial functions, directing traffic, controlling lights on court facility properties, monitoring vehicles and pedestrians, providing courtroom security, and turning over any articles found in a court facility to the COR and completing CSO-003 within 24 hours after the incident occurs. Supervisors and managers should be kept informed of unusual occurrences and important events, alarms, radio traffic, and other information sources should be monitored, and fire alarms, burglary alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts should be reported and addressed appropriately. Vehicles and pedestrians entering and / or exiting the facility should be stopped, screened, inquired, and inspected as directed, and equipment should be used properly to prevent passage of prohibited articles onto or off client facility.
Requirements and qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 21 years of age, minimum of three years of verifiable civilian law enforcement experience or an equivalent law enforcement position with the United States Armed Forces, successfully completing a certified Federal, state, county, local, or military law enforcement training academy or program, passing pre-placement screening and evaluation, passing a criminal background check, drug test, and physical exam, possessing a valid, unrestricted state driver's license, fluently reading, speaking, comprehending, and composing coherent written reports in English, meeting medical / physical fitness requirements, and being free from conviction of any felony.
