We are a boutique maritime law firm dedicated to providing high-quality representation in matters involving maritime, admiralty, insurance defense, and compensation claims. We are seeking an associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience handling insurance defense matters, including maritime personal injury and compensation claims (e.g., Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, Defense Base Act, or similar claims). This role offers the opportunity to gain significant courtroom and case-handling experience in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Manage a caseload of maritime and insurance defense matters from inception to resolution.

Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.

Take and defend depositions, attend hearings, and participate in trials and arbitrations.

Advise and communicate effectively with clients, insurers, and claims professionals.

Collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy, case management, and litigation planning.

Stay current with developments in maritime, admiralty, and insurance law.

Qualifications :

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Active license to practice law in CA (federal court admission a plus; licensed in other states a plus).

2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably with maritime, admiralty, insurance defense, or compensation claims.

Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

Excellent oral advocacy and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
