Job Details

We’re looking for a Building Automation Applications Engineer to join a leading building technology and energy management team in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing, developing, and optimizing DDC control systems for commercial buildings, schools, healthcare, higher education, and government facilities.

You’ll work closely with project managers, programmers, and design engineers to ensure every system is efficient, scalable, and fully aligned with client expectations. Most of your work will be office-based, with occasional site visits for project coordination and validation.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and create control system drawings, wiring diagrams, and system architecture layouts using Visio or similar tools.
  • Write and review detailed sequences of operation for building automation and energy management systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams — including programming, project management, and sales — to ensure project scope, functionality, and timelines are aligned.
  • Generate bills of materials, panel layouts, and wiring termination details.
  • Review mechanical and electrical plans for accuracy and ensure proper system integration.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation, including as-built drawings and project manuals.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and end users throughout design and implementation.

    What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical control systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting MEP plan / spec documents.
  • Proficiency with design and drawing tools (Visio preferred).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Service-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in DDC controls or Building Automation Systems (BAS) design or integration.
  • Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or other open protocols.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience).
