Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager

We are working with a well-established and growing engineering consulting firm who is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team for the long term. This position offers the advantages of working in a close-knit environment while contributing to a wide variety of technical projects across the U.S. in a hybrid format. The office is just southwest of Denver.

The team is composed of experienced engineers and scientists from diverse backgrounds. Project types include stream and river restoration, hydraulic design, construction observation, geotechnical investigations, geomorphology, design-build initiatives, water rights consulting, water balance and system reliability studies, and development review.

Long-standing client relationships allow project managers to focus on technical execution and team leadership, rather than business development.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, water resources, construction management, or a closely related discipline

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required; must be able to obtain licensure in Colorado within six months if not already held

8+ years of relevant engineering experience

Strong background in hydrology and hydraulics; stream restoration and geomorphology experience preferred

Proficiency in 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software

Experience with construction plan review and observation

Familiarity with geotechnical principles is a plus

Skilled in Civil 3D, GIS, and general computer literacy

Proven project management and staff coordination abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to lead both technically and operationally within a collaborative environment

Primary Responsibilities

Lead hydrologic / hydraulic assessments on public and private work

Conduct geomorphologic assessments and sediment transport modeling

Oversee stream restoration efforts from site evaluation through construction oversight

Manage project budgets, schedules, teams, and client relationships

Prepare technical documents including reports, plans, specifications, and construction schedules

Develop work scopes and cost estimates

Review engineering plans and specifications

Perform and oversee construction engineering and observation tasks

Contribute to broader company initiatives and support multidisciplinary project efforts
