American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med / Surg unit night shift position requiring a current IL RN license and proficiency in telemetry, rapid response, and Cerner EMR.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Neuro Med / Surg unit of an acute care hospitalLevel II Trauma Center with an average daily census of 32 patientsNight shift schedule with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (18 : 00-06 : 30)Required to work every other weekendFloating within scope to similar units as neededPatient population includes neuro and med / surg cases such as CVA, pre / post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and trauma brain injuriesHandles medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, IV, psychiatric, and respiratory casesUses Cerner for chartingRole includes patient care involving isolation precautions and wound vac managementNo on-call responsibilitiesParking permit is provided at no costHospital uses royal blue scrubsTeaching hospital and Level II trauma experience preferredUp to 5 days of requested time off will be consideredLocal candidates are accepted without a radius restriction\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license required at time of applicationMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg and neuro nursing experienceCurrent BLS and NIHSS certifications requiredExperience with telemetry and remote cardiac monitoringExperience in rapid response team, colostomy and feeding tube care, central and peripheral lines, blood product administration, starting IVs, and surgical drainsProficiency with common medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCASkill in trach management, chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur-evac), CPAP / BiPAP, non-invasive airway management, and continuous bladder irrigationCerner EMR experience requiredFirst-time travelers are not accepted\n Benefits\n
