SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES :

Creates an intentional culturally responsive learning environment inclusive of students from all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds, abilities and family structures. Encourages a sense of belonging and positive classroom community for students while developing skills for learning about self and others, the role that systemic racism plays in the history of our country and present day embedded in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to support effective communication. Motivates learning by validating students as asset-based individuals. Coordinator is expected to be aware of microaggressions and redirect to amplify affirmations.

Essential Functions :

• Supports the behaviors of students that impact with their ability to actively engage in their learning
• Knowledgeable of developmentally appropriate learning expectations and experiences
• Demonstrates concepts and strategies using models, talk, reflective writing, and other available resources including technology
• Facilitate the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans and crisis plan to meet the needs of students from all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds, abilities and family structures
• Demonstrates culturally informed behavior management and discipline practices with the ability to neutralize the pattern of inequitable discipline of children of color
• Uses positive guidance techniques such as redirection, modeling appropriate behavior and praise
• Guide teachers in providing opportunities for individual students to meet with success by following Behavior Plans that are purposeful and flexible to meet the needs of students from all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds, abilities and family structures
• Provide support and constructive feedback regarding student behavior to school staff including administrators, teachers and other support staff
• Develop a data system to collect and summarize behavioral data for self and others
• Serve as a member of the Multi-Tier Support System (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RtI) teams and others as requested
• Write accurate evaluations and progress reports
• Continually improve positive, non-threatening approaches to behavior management and discipline
• Support the implementation of research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies
• Serve as a resource / consultant to classroom teachers, other school personnel and families
• Performs all other duties as directed by head of school or superintendent
