American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in California, requiring a CA RN license and current ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and COVID vaccine.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Emergency Room with 14 beds and a dedicated fast track areaAverage daily census of 65 patients with a 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratioPatient population includes a high volume of elderly and non-trauma cases, including abdominal pain, chest pain, orthopedic injuries, and minor woundsFrequent care for psychiatric patients who may remain in the ER for extended periodsVents are used in the unit and staff work in collaboration with ED physicians, mid-levels, RT, pharmacy, clinical techs, and unit clerksCerner EMR is used, and ability to print and sign off on telemetry strips is requiredShifts are 12 hours (mids and a variety of start times), with required work every other weekend and participation in holiday rotation (2 out of 3 holidays)Travelers may float to the nearby SJRMC ER as neededPrimary responsibilities include patient triage, stabilization (no trauma), and comprehensive care for a wide range of emergency casesTeam includes charge nurse and clinical tech support during peak hours; security is always on siteNo IV team; RNs expected to perform their own IV startsUnit manager is actively involved and the environment is traveler friendlyStaff must print and sign telemetry strips as no monitor techs are providedNavy scrubs are requiredMandatory completion of unit-specific orientation (2 shifts)Participation in holiday coverage is rotated with permanent staffFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyCandidates must not have worked directly for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year (PRN with outside firms considered)\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent Emergency Room RN experienceCurrent certifications : ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and COVID vaccine requiredCompetency in triage and willingness to take conscious sedation cases upon successful completion of a competency assessmentAbility to adapt quickly to new environments and work collaboratively with existing staffReferences required : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both with provided dates of employment and rehire eligibilityCopy of driver's license required for consideration\n Benefits\n
