The Center for Diverse Abilities (CDA) builds and nurtures an inclusive and accepting community where

individuals with disabilities and their families have opportunities to make meaningful connections to each other and

their community. We serve as a catalyst and leader, transforming the ways in which the community at large

understands and interacts with people with different abilities.

We offer neurodivergent individuals a place to socialize, learn, grow, and deepen their connections to one another

through one off and semester based programs. Our work provides participants multiple pathways to fostering their

independence, finding their passion, and experiencing the richness of community.

Ha Dereckh is a pre vocational program for neurodiverse teenagers, ages 14-21, who are paired with a neurotypical

peer mentor. The peer mentor supports the teen intern in their placement to help build social and vocational skills.

Placements are around the JCC building in various departments, such as Film, AV, Fitness Center and more. Interns

work directly with JCC staff who work in the corresponding departments.

The CDA is seeking a dynamic coordinator to join the team and oversee the internship program with a social work

intern and support from the Director of Youth Programming! Harnessing their passion for accessibility, inclusion,

community facing work, and the importance of prevocational programming for teenagers, the candidate will create a

fun, meaningful, and inclusive environment where all interns can develop essential job skills and thrive in their

internship placements with the proper support.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Support interns in their weekly internship placements by serving as an onsite job coach as needed
  • Create, adapt, and co-facilitate monthly Community Building Day lessons focused on relationship-building, workplace social skills, and hands-on experiential learning
  • Encourage and support volunteer participation in both group settings and one-on-one interactions
  • Collaborate with placement supervisors on an ongoing basis, with supervision from the CDA Director of Youth Programming
  • Provide ACCES VR / PRE-ETS oversight by maintaining detailed notes and observations for each intern
  • Complete and submit ACCES VR PRE-ETS monthly reports for payment

REQUIREMENTS :

  • College degree required
  • Masters or working towards a Masters degree in Social Work or other related field preferred
  • Have previous experience working with adults or teens with developmental and / or
  • intellectual disabilities

  • Have a strong work ethic and the ability to work closely with supervisors as well as
  • independently

  • Have consistent organizational and communication skills to manage program logistics
  • Be engaging, thoughtful, creative and flexible when supporting or leading programming
  • Commit to a full school year of programming (November 2025 - June 2026)
  • The ideal candidate will have experience :
  • Experience supporting individuals in prevocational / vocational settings
  • Teach and / or reinforce essential job-related social and life skills
  • Present information through multiple modalities to accommodate different learning styles
  • Develop or lead creative curriculum focused on building workplace readiness and practical

    job skills

    HOURS :

  • 4-7 : 30 pm, Tuesdays (weekly)
  • 4 : 15-6 : 15 pm Thursdays (weekly)
  • Additional opportunities for weeknight evening and weekend social programming may be

    available.

    PAY RANGE :

  • $25.00- $30.00 / hour
