American Traveler is seeking a MICU RN with at least one year of ICU experience and a Michigan RN license or pending eligibility.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) with a mix of ICU and PCU patientsPatient diagnoses include COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and A-fibPatient ratios vary : ICU / PCU mix at 3 : 1, PCU up to 4 : 1, vent patients at 2 : 1, and high acuity or CRRT / cooling at 1 : 1Utilize equipment such as cooling machines, Bair Huggers, and CRRTSpecial procedures include CRRT, HD, A-line, CVC, trach, and chest tube placementNight shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7 : 00 pm – 7 : 00 amRequired to work every other weekendFloat to other ICU and Med Surg units as needed with ratios of approximately 5-6 patients per RN in Med SurgEMR experience is not specifiedResponsibilities include advanced critical care for mixed acuity patients, including ventilated and unstable populationsTeam includes support from ICU physicians and collaborative rotations with unit RNsTravelers are the first to float between units as census demandsOrientation includes self-reported modules and must be attended for the full first weekFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo local radius restrictions; locals accepted at the same rateReturn staff must have at least a 6-month gapProof of flu vaccination or approved exemption must be provided upon hire\n \n Requirements\n
Active Michigan RN license or pending with concrete ETACurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA accepted)Minimum one year of ICU RN experienceExperience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, chronic / acute renal failure, arterial line, blood product administration, central / PICC line management, continuous IV sedation, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and ventilator managementFlu vaccination or exemption requiredAvailability for the full orientation weekReferences required\n Benefits\n
