Who we are :
At Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, we offer primary care and 24 / 7 emergency services for dogs, cats, horses, and some small ruminants. We are a large multi-departmental hospital with 20 Doctors and 85 Support Staff Members. Our integrative medicine department provides rehabilitation services for small animals and acupuncture and chiropractic for both large and small animals. We also serve as the primary specialty referral center for horses in the region with both board-certified internal medicine and surgery specialists. We are proud to be AAHA certified.

Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a full-time, experienced Small Animal ER Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician to their team!
Schedule : Sunday - Wednesday 8am - 7pm
As a Small Animal ER Lead, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients. Not only will you help provide exceptional care for our patients, but you will also lead your team with encouragement and confidence to continue to perform at the highest level.
Role Responsibilities :
Experience & Skill Requirements :
LVT preferred-not required
Emergency experience is required (2+ years)
Proficient in safe, minimal-stress patient handling and restraint, including fear-free techniques.
Expertise in patient care including :
o Triage and patient assessment procedures, including history and physical exam
o Administer prescribed treatment and medications, including all modes of administration techniques
o Advanced placement and maintenance of peripheral and central IV catheters; management of IV fluid therapy
o Administer and monitor blood / component transfusion
o Observe, assess, monitor, and report symptoms and condition of patients
o Provide proficient and advanced nursing care including ensuring patient comfort, cleanliness, nutrition, and thermoregulation, including care of recumbent patients
o Advanced knowledge and skills for pain assessment and management
o Set up, placement, maintenance, and monitoring of indwelling urinary catheters and collection systems; calculate urine output
o Advanced skilled emergency response including performing CPR
o Reconstitute / dilute drugs
o Calculate CRIs, % solutions
o Controlled substance documentation
o Safely obtain diagnostic radiographs using proper technique and positioning, including extremities, spine, special orthopedic, and contrast studies
o Proficient operation of ultrasound machine, identify structures and presence / absence of fluid; protect probe
o Advanced operation of and care for endoscope and other diagnostic equipment
Qualifications :
o Ability to routinely lift 40+ pounds; ³ 50 pounds with assistance
o Frequent / extended standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching - often in awkward positions
o Exposure to all types of hazard situations / chemicals, including chemotherapeutic agents, anesthetic and sterilant gases, radiant energy, infectious diseases, potentially irritant cleaning solutions, potentially aggressive animals

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $28 - $36 per hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and licensure.
